Dieting Tips that Work

by on November 12, 2011

Losing weight successfully doesn’t mean forgoing all the food you loved or eating less than you can afford to. It lies in balancing healthy eating with exercise, which helps your body to burn the extra calories. If you have devised an eating plan to combat weight gain and maintain a healthy body, here are some pointers that will help you stay on track, irrespective of your diet structure.

Commit Yourself

When you begin the diet, start with the determination that you’ll maintain it till you’ve reached your goal. Don’t begin the diet if you know you’ll have to break it in a few days, postpone it for a time when you have no approaching parties; so that you can concentrate on only the task in hand.

Write Down Why YOU are Dieting

Why do you want to go on a diet?? Is it because you want to don your best look this summer, or is it because you want to lead a better, healthier lifestyle? Whatever your reason is, write them down and pin it up in your room. When you look at it every morning, this piece of paper will motivate you.

Reward Yourself

Give yourself a prize every time you lose a certain quantity of weight. Buy yourself a new tee-shirt, get a new haircut, or get a facial done. These small treats will increase your confidence, and you can look forward to losing a few more pounds.

It’s Your Diet

Everyone has a different body type, and therefore, the results of a diet would be different for each person. Don’t be depressed if your diet results are not the same as somebody else’s, and also, when you’re dieting, don’t compare your plans and results with anybody. Keep in mind that even though it takes time, the results are late; it’s okay as long as you meet your goal of losing the amount of weight you wanted to.

Picture Your Motivation

It helps to have photos of your slimmer self, in your old jeans, or pictures of happy moments with your family. This will give you the inspiration to get back there again!

Eat Before You Get Hungry

To avoid binging, eat before you have the craving to eat heavier meals. The trick is to eat your food before you get too hungry and eat more than you can. Also develop a habit of eating your meals at set times everyday; this will help your body to adjust meal timings.

Avoid Nibbling When Cooking

Don’t start licking your fingers when you’re cooking! Eat your meals when they get to the table. If you can’t control eating whilst you’re cooking, you can keep a bowl of nuts handy; this is a tasty way to control your craving even when you nibble.

Drink Plenty of Water

Water is a wonder drink, and you should never lessen your water intake even when you’re dieting. Drink at least eight to twelve glasses of water every day to keep your body well hydrated and flush out toxins within the body. The emphasis should be on having pure water, juices etc. rather than aerated drinks, which harm the body.

Cut Down the Caffeine

One thing that needs a massive cut down when you’re on a diet is caffeine containing drinks. Caffeinated drinks cause hypertension and may lead to other serious ailments, and also increase body weight.

Keep the above in mind, set your goals and start dieting today! Good luck!
